About Cité de l'espace
Cité de l'espace is a science centre about space and space exploration, opened in 1997 east of Toulouse. The choice of the city is no accident: Toulouse hosts many companies and agencies in the European aerospace sector.
In the garden there are full-size exhibits, such as the 53-metre replica of the Ariane 5 rocket, a Soyuz capsule and other vehicles and satellites. Inside, the engineering mock-up of the Mir space station, with original equipment, shows how astronauts lived in orbit.
The exhibitions cover the Moon, Mars, the Solar System and Earth observation, with lunar rocks and meteorites. There is a planetarium, an IMAX cinema and scheduled activities throughout the day.
It's an outing that appeals to both children and adults and takes up much of the day.
