Saint-Hubert – Luxemburgo Destination Ardennes

How to get there

The Poix-Saint-Hubert station, on the Namur–Luxemburgo line, is outside the town, and the rest of the journey depends on bus or taxi. By car you reach it via the N89, with the N89A spur into the centre.

When to go

From May to October the forest is more accessible for walks. On the first weekend of September the town holds the International Days of Hunting and Nature. From November to February it is cold on the plateau, and snow usually appears on some days.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Who was Saint Hubert?

Bishop of Tongeren-Maastricht and later of Liège, who died in 727. He is the patron saint of hunters, forest rangers and woodcutters. His body was taken to the abbey that gave rise to the town.

What to see in the basilica?

The Gothic nave, built between 1526 and 1564; the classical façade from the early 18th century; the oak choir stalls with scenes from the lives of Saint Benedict and Saint Hubert; and the saint's cenotaph, made by Guillaume Geefs in 1847.

How much time to spend in Saint-Hubert?

Half a day is enough for the basilica and the town centre. Anyone who wants to walk in the forest or visit the Fourneau Saint-Michel, about 7 kilometres away, needs a full day.
