About Glaciar Martial
The Glaciar Martial occupies a mountain cirque above Ushuaia, within the protected area of the same name. The current ice is a remnant of a larger mass. The Buena Esperanza stream originates in this environment and crosses the forest below the slopes.
Visits begin at the base of Cerro Martial, about seven kilometers from the center. There are circuits with different lengths and elevation gains: some remain in the forest, while others reach viewpoints over the valley and moraines. It is not necessary to reach the ice itself to appreciate Martial's landscape.
Choose the route according to the group’s fitness and the day's conditions. Between November and March hikes generally benefit from longer daylight hours. From June to September snow may require different planning and equipment. Stay on designated trails; viewing the glacier does not mean you are allowed to walk on it.

Go from the central area to the base of Cerro Martial by road, by car, taxi or transfer. From the base, the circuits are walked on foot.

Choose a forest circuit if the group does not want to gain much elevation; confirm which trails are open.
