How to get there
-
Aeropuerto Internacional Gobernador Francisco Gabrielli (MDZ) Mendoza
-
Terminal de Ómnibus de Tupungato
Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
By car, RN 40 and RP 86, via Los Cerrillos, lead to Tupungato. Regional buses from Mendoza and Tunuyán use the Tupungato Bus Terminal on Las Heras street; confirm the trip before you go.
How many days
Two days allow time for separate visits in Gualtallary and San José, with gaps for travel. If attempting both in one day, check the wineries' locations and reserved times before combining them.
When to go
The harvest usually takes place from February to April. From September to November, daytime temperatures are generally milder. From June to August, nights tend to be cold; winery visits do not depend on witnessing the harvest.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
The wineries are outside the town center and far from each other. A car with driver or a transfer service covers access for each reservation. Regional buses connect towns but do not replace transport to the wineries. For tastings, arrange a return without driving.
