Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.
MDZ serves Maipú from Las Heras, with about 25 km of road to the main square. The center of Mendoza is approximately 18 km away. The Terminal de Ómnibus de Mendoza, in Guaymallén, is about 16 km away. Within Gran Mendoza, complete your arrival by taxi, transfer or urban transport.
How many days
One day is enough for the square, the municipal museum and a winery. With two days, split visits between Trapiche and La Rural and allow time for transfers and lunch. The attractions are not all in downtown Maipú.
When to go
March to April is usually a harvest period and a time when the vineyard landscape changes. October to November tends to have milder temperatures for walking in the center. In December, January and February, plan breaks because of the heat; June to August usually requires a coat.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
The center allows walking between urban services, but the wineries are outside that small circuit. A transfer or driver helps to keep reservations. Public transport can cover part of the route, with walks and connections that must be checked before the visit.

Learn about the relationship between the historic houses, their inhabitants and the development of viticulture in Maipú. Adjust your visit to the type of service available.
-

Choose Trapiche or Bodega La Rural depending on your reservation. Don't try to fit two full visits after the museum without checking travel times.
-
Evening
Return to the center or your base
Finish the wine circuit with transportation already arranged. If you are staying in Mendoza, allow the necessary time to return to Gran Mendoza.
Check before you go. Opening hours and days change, and places may close for renovations, holidays or events. This itinerary is a suggestion from Cidade Turismo, not a commitment: plan yours by checking directly with each place you intend to visit.

Frequently asked questions
Is Maipú a wine area different from Luján de Cuyo?
Yes. Both belong to the Gran Mendoza area, but each has its own districts, wineries and routes. In Maipú, this itinerary brings together the square, the chalet heritage and the visits in Coquimbito.
Which museum is located in the historic chalets?
The Museo Nacional del Vino y la Vendimia occupies the former chalets associated with the Giol and Gargantini families. It is different from the heritage museum at Bodega La Rural.
Can I do everything in one day?
One day accommodates the center, the museum and a winery. To visit both Trapiche and La Rural with enough time, book a second day.
Can Mendoza be used as a base?
The city center is about 18 km by road from Plaza 12 de Febrero. Staying there is possible, but winery reservations still require local transport.
Do tastings require driving between wineries?
Transfers between establishments are separate from the visit. Hire a driver or other return transport if you plan to taste, rather than relying on driving afterward.
