When to go
April to November is usually a less rainy period. June to August calls for warm shelter at night. Between December and March, rain and humidity can affect the dirt circuit and the surface of the salt flat.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
The plaza, the church, and the Paseo de los Colorados are reachable on foot. For the Salinas Grandes, arrange a car or round-trip transfer; the climb and the altitude should be taken into account when planning.
