Maimará – Jujuy Destination Jujuy and Quebrada de Humahuaca
How to get there
Follow RN9 from San Salvador de Jujuy or Tilcara. If coming from Purmamarca, return on RN52 to the junction and continue north. Buses on the corridor serve the village; confirm your stop near the center.
When to go
From April to November it usually rains less. Between June and August nights tend to be cold; from December to March rain is more frequent. The temperature difference between day and night calls for layered clothing.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Frequently asked questions
Where can you see the Paleta del Pintor?
There is a lookout next to RN9, in front of the hills and the village. Other visiting routes climb the slopes and require enough time and local guidance.
Is Maimará between Purmamarca and Tilcara?
The town is south of Tilcara, on the RN9 axis. Purmamarca is on a branch of RN52: return to the junction before continuing to Maimará.
Is it worth getting out of the car in the center?
The square, the nearby streets and the cultivated areas help you get to know the village beyond the view of the mountains by the road.
