Berna
Federal city of the Suíça, seat of the government and parliament, built on a peninsula of the Aare river. The historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has about 6 km of arcades, the Zytglogge clock tower, Renaissance fountains and the Gothic cathedral. Outside the medieval core are the Palácio Federal, the Bärenpark, the Rosengarten, the Matte neighbourhood, the Zentrum Paul Klee, the Kunstmuseum, the Museu de História with the Einstein Museum, the Museu da Comunicação, the Marzili and the Gurten hill.

Grindelwald
Village at 1,034 m in an open valley at the foot of the Eiger's north face, linked to Interlaken by train since 1890. From Grindelwald Terminal the Eiger Express departs toward the Jungfraujoch and the gondola to Männlichen; from the centre the cable car rises to First, with the trail to Bachalpsee. Kleine Scheidegg and the Gletscherschlucht round out the excursions.

Interlaken
Town between the Thunersee and the Brienzersee, at 568 m, which has relied on tourism since the 19th century. It has the Höhematte, a lawn with views of the Jungfrau, the Harder Kulm funicular, boats on both lakes and trains to the valleys. In the surroundings are the Schynige Platte, the St. Beatus-Höhlen, Brienz, the Giessbachfälle, the Ballenberg and the Brienzer Rothorn, and the GoldenPass Express passes through it.

Lauterbrunnen
Village at the bottom of a narrow valley of sheer rock walls, at about 800 m, with the Staubbachfall dropping 297 m beside the centre and the Trümmelbachfälle inside the mountain. Above it are Wengen and Mürren, car-free villages, the Allmendhubel and the Schilthorn, at 2,970 m, with the revolving restaurant Piz Gloria.
