About 5-Seenweg
The 5-Seenweg, the five-lakes trail, links Blauherd, at 2,571 m, to Sunnegga, at 2,288 m, over about 10 km. The route takes 2 h 30 min to 3 h and descends more than it climbs, making it accessible to regular hikers.
The first lake is the Stellisee, at 2,537 m, from which the Matterhorn often appears reflected on windless days. Next come the Grindjisee and the Grünsee, where swimming is allowed. Then follow the Moosjisee and the Leisee, already near Sunnegga.
The trail is waymarked and passes pastures, moraines of former glaciers and woodlands. At the end, Sunnegga has restaurants and the funicular descent to the village.
Snow closes part of the route outside the European summer, and signs indicate when there are blockages.
