About Luzern–Interlaken Express

The Luzern–Interlaken Express is the Lucerna–Interlaken section of the panoramic line known as GoldenPass. The train of Zentralbahn covers 74 km in about 1 hour 50 minutes and operates year-round.

Departing from Lucerna, the train runs along Lake Alpnach and follows the Obwalden valley, beside Lake Sarnen. Before Brünig it switches to the rack section and climbs the slope above Lake Lungern, with its green water.

The Brünig Pass, at 1,008 m, separates Central Switzerland from the Bernese Oberland. On the other side, the train descends to the shore of Lake Brienz and follows it to Interlaken. The carriages have large windows that help to view the lakes and slopes.

The route is used both as a scenic trip and as a connection between Lucerna and the Jungfrau region.
