About Trübsee

The Trübsee is a mountain lake at about 1,760 m, on a plateau at the foot of Titlis's north face. It sits by the intermediate station of the gondola that rises from Engelberg, so many people stop there on the way back from Titlis.

A flat path circles the lake, with benches, picnic areas and views of the glacier. In summer there are rowboats for rent. The station has a restaurant and shops.

From Trübsee, a chairlift and a trail climb to the Jochpass at 2,207 m. The Engelberg–Trübsee–Jochpass route is part of the old Via Sbrinz, a mule track that carried cheese from Central Switzerland to Italy. From the Jochpass, trails continue to the lakes Engstlensee and Melchsee.

In winter, the plateau has ski slopes, snowshoe trails and a sledging area, depending on conditions.
