Edimburgo
Edimburgo is the capital of Scotland, between volcanic hills and the Forth estuary. The medieval Cidade Velha, with the castle on the rock, the Royal Mile, the Catedral de St Giles and the Palácio de Holyroodhouse, and the Georgian Cidade Nova, with Princes Street and Dean Village, are a World Heritage Site. Arthur's Seat and Calton Hill provide the city views, and the festival usually takes place in August.

Fort William
Fort William is the town of the western Highlands at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom, on the shore of Loch Linnhe, at the southern end of the Canal de Caledônia. It is the base for Glen Nevis, the Glencoe valley, the Escada de Netuno and the Glenfinnan viaduct, and the departure point for the Jacobite steam train to Mallaig.

Inverness
Inverness is the main town of the Highlands, on the banks of the River Ness, at the northern end of the Great Glen. The red sandstone castle, reopened as a visitor centre, the riverbanks and the Ness Islands are in the centre, and the town is a base for Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, the Culloden battlefield and Fort George.

Portree
Portree is the main village on the Isle of Skye, with a harbour of colourful houses beneath a bay surrounded by hills. It’s the base for the Trotternish peninsula, with the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing, and for the Fairy Pools, Dunvegan Castle and Neist Point. On the way to the island, Eilean Donan Castle guards the approach.
