From Faro Airport (FAO) it’s about 40 km. The train station, Albufeira-Ferreiras, is about 6 km from the center, with buses to the town. Check before booking.

How many days

Two days allow for the old town, Praia da Falésia and a trip to Benagil and Praia da Marinha. Albufeira works as a base for a week of beach in the center of the Algarve.

When to go

June to September for the beach, with July and August very busy. May and October tend to be quieter and still warm. boat trips to Benagil depend on sea conditions.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Not in the town itself. For Praia da Falésia, Benagil and Praia da Marinha a car helps; there are also buses and boat tours from Albufeira and the marina.

    See the algar by boat or guided kayak, departing from Praia de Benagil.

    Return to Albufeira

    Dine in Carvoeiro or return to Albufeira.

Is Albufeira good for families with children?

Yes, there are sandy beaches with lifeguards in summer, such as Praia dos Pescadores, and lots of facilities. In July and August the town gets very crowded.

How to go from Albufeira to Benagil?

By boat, departing from the marina or the beach, or by car to Praia de Benagil, about 16 km away, for boat trips or guided kayak tours.

Is the train station in the center of Albufeira?

No, Albufeira-Ferreiras station is about 6 km away, with buses to the town.

Does Albufeira have a nightlife?

Yes, especially in the European summer, in the cidade velha and in the Oura area.
