Confirm before booking. The boat leaves from Rossaveal, 37 km from Galway, with a bus from Galway city centre to the port, and takes about 40 minutes to Kilronan. In season there are boats from Doolin. Short flights operate from Inverin to Kilronan aerodrome when in service. Confirm schedules, as they depend on the sea.

How many days

One day for Dún Aonghasa, Kilmurvey and the Seven Churches, by bike or minibus. With one night, include Dún Eochla, the Poll na bPéist and the evening in the village without day visitors.

When to go

From May to September boats run more frequently and days are long; July and August are the busiest. April, May and September are usually good for cycling. In winter the wind is strong, there are fewer sailings and some services close.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No — visitors cannot bring cars to the island. In Kilronan there are bike hires, tour minibuses and pony-and-traps. Dún Aonghasa is about 7 km from the port. Roads are narrow, with stone walls and gentle climbs.
