About Pont-canal du Cacor

The Ponte-canal do Cacor carries the Canal Lateral à Garonne over the river Tarn, on the eastern exit of Moissac. It is an arched bridge through which boats pass, with the river running underneath, and one of the canal's best-known spots.

The Canal Lateral à Garonne connects Toulouse to the Bordeaux region and was opened fully to navigation in 1856. Together with the Canal du Midi, it forms the so-called Canal of the Two Seas, between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. In Moissac, the canal crosses the town, with locks and tree-lined banks.

The towpath along the canal is used by pedestrians and cyclists and is part of a bike path that follows the canal. Leaving the center, you reach the ponte-canal in a short time, passing locks and the boatmen's houses.

In season there are sightseeing boats and rental boats that navigate the canal and pass over the Tarn.
