About Cap d'Antibes
Cap d'Antibes is the headland that juts into the sea between Antibes and Juan-les-Pins. It is occupied by mansions hidden behind pine trees and by rocky coves, and has some places open to those who arrive on foot.
The Sentier du Littoral, or sentier de Tire-Poil, is the seaside trail that skirts the southern tip of the cape, starting from Plage de la Garoupe. The path runs over rocks shaped by the sea, with sections of steps and walkways, and can be closed on days of rough sea.
Next to the trail is Villa Eilenroc, a neoclassical mansion from 1867 attributed to the architect Charles Garnier, the same who designed the Paris Opera. The villa belongs to the city and sits in an 11-hectare park with a rose garden and olive grove; the house and park open on limited days of the week and close in August due to fire risk.
At the top of the cape are the Garoupe lighthouse and the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garoupe, with sailors' ex-votos and views along the whole coast to Nice and the Alps.
