About Ojos del Caburgua
Los Ojos del Caburgua are a set of waterfalls and pools in the forest east of Pucón. The water does not come from a surface river: it springs from an underground flow from Lago Caburgua that infiltrates the porous volcanic rocks and reappears there.
There are three drops of 15 to 20 meters that fall into pools of turquoise and green. Seen from above, two of those pools resemble eyes, hence the name. The difference in color between them depends on depth and light.
Access is across private land, maintained by the owners, with short trails, wooden walkways and viewpoints. The visit is quick and pairs well with Lago Caburgua to the north, known for its light-sand beaches, and with the route to Parque Nacional Huerquehue.
The surrounding forest is humid, with coigües, ferns and moss, and the temperature by the water is always cooler than on the road.
