About BAM - Beaux-Arts Mons

The BAM, short for Beaux-Arts Mons, is the city's fine arts museum. It reopened in 2013 after a complete renovation, with an Andy Warhol exhibition, and became Mons's main exhibition space. The building is on rue Neuve, a few steps from the Grand-Place, with clear circulation and rooms totaling nearly 2,000 square metres.

The collection has more than 15,000 works, including painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking, with emphasis on artists connected to Mons and Hainaut. It is presented in parts, in exhibitions the museum mounts around an artist, a movement or a theme.

The large temporary shows are the main reason to visit. In recent years the BAM has hosted exhibitions of Van Gogh, Warhol and Belgian and international artists, always with texts in more than one language.

Between shows the museum may close for a few days or weeks for installation. So check what's on before adding the BAM to your itinerary.
