About Reserva Municipal Desembocadura Río Turbio

The Reserva Municipal Desembocadura Río Turbio preserves the environment where the watercourse reaches Lago Khami, near Tolhuin. The wetland combines water, riparian vegetation and transitional grounds, distinct from the closed forest of other municipal reserves.

The Haiken Chache trail is intended for birdwatching and brings visitors into that environment. Resident and migratory species use the area, but each species’ presence varies with the season and natural conditions. Part of the visit’s interest is also seeing how the river interacts with the lake shore.

Choose your access point and walk discreetly, staying on the marked path. From September to March observing migratory species is usually more significant, without guaranteeing sightings. Bring shelter against coastal wind and avoid approaching birds or entering wet ground to photograph them.
