About San Ignacio Miní
San Ignacio Miní preserves the remains of a Jesuit-Guarani mission in the current municipality of San Ignacio. The complex is part of the World Heritage along with other sites in the region. The layout makes it possible to recognize the relationship between the central plaza, the church and the settlement's buildings.
Reddish stone appears in the walls and surviving portals, with ornamental elements that deserve close attention. As you tour the site, you can identify areas associated with residences, workshops and community activities. The complex's museum adds objects and interpretation to help read the ruins.
Set aside part of the day to walk and observe the arrangement of the buildings, rather than turning the visit into a stop that only looks at the façade. From April to September temperatures are usually milder. Protect yourself from the sun, bring water and check entry availability before going; the ground and exposure to the elements require appropriate footwear.
