About Mirador de los Cóndores
The Mirador de los Cóndores sits on an elevation near the entrance of El Chaltén. The trail starts at the park visitor center area and climbs to a point that allows viewing the town center and the surrounding valleys. It is one of the shortest hikes promoted for the region.
The route is approximately one kilometer one way, with an altitude gain that requires a comfortable pace on the ascent. From the top, the landscape is arranged among houses, watercourses, and mountains. The view of the Fitz Roy and Torre massifs depends on visibility conditions.
Despite the name, the visit should not depend on the presence of condors. The birds circulate through the area without a schedule for the observer. Between November and March there is usually more daylight, but wind at the top can shorten the stay. Bring warm clothing, stay on the indicated path, and save energy for the descent.
