About Chorrillo del Salto

Chorrillo del Salto is a waterfall in the forest north of El Chaltén. The stream descends a rocky wall and forms the drop seen at the end of the trail. The visit allows you to experience a forest environment without the altitude gain of hikes to the large lagoons.

The route from town is about three kilometers one way. There is also an approach by road to the parking area, followed by a shorter final walk. The path through the forest guides you to the waterfall viewing point.

This outing works as a first contact with the local trails or as a lower-effort day between longer hikes. From November to March there is more daylight to distribute the outing. The amount of water varies with basin conditions; do not expect a specific volume. Wear hiking footwear and stay in the indicated area to observe.
