About Reserva Laguna Nimez

Reserva Laguna Nimez protects an environment of lagoons and wet vegetation near the shore of Lago Argentino. It is inside El Calafate, without the long road transfer required for the glacier. The reserve preserves an area used by resident and migratory birds.

The interpretive circuit is about three kilometers long and includes signage, viewpoints and observatories. Walking slowly allows you to notice the differences between shoreline vegetation, the water and the open terrain. The presence of flamingos, swans and other birds varies with the season and local conditions.

Use the observatories without approaching the animals and bring wind protection. Between November and March the days usually allow better distribution of the walk; in the cold months clothing preparation becomes more important. The reserve pairs well with a short stay in town, provided the visit time is not reduced to a single photo at the entrance.
