About Glaciarium
The Glaciarium is a glaciology interpretation center on the outskirts of El Calafate. Its exhibition presents ice formation, glacier behavior and the Campo de Hielo Patagónico Sur. The museum helps relate the landscapes seen in the park to processes that occur on different time scales.
The building has an architecture of angular volumes that references the ice environment. The rooms use audiovisual resources and interpretive materials to explain the topics. Its location on an elevation also allows part of the Lago Argentino landscape to be seen from the surroundings.
The visit can come before the Perito Moreno walkways to add context, or afterwards to revisit details observed on the outing. Allow time for the exhibitions rather than limiting the visit to the facade. Confirm entry and transport before you go; the transfer to the museum is separate from the walking circuit in town.
