About Glaciar Perito Moreno

The Perito Moreno Glacier ends in the waters of Lago Argentino, in the southern sector of Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. Its ice is part of the Campo de Hielo Patagónico Sur. The jagged front made of ice blocks can be viewed from the walkways on the Península de Magallanes, without boarding or walking on the glacier.

The boardwalks are laid out through the forest and offer different angles of the ice walls. There are routes with stairs and options for reduced mobility, which should be checked according to the visitor's needs. The position of each viewpoint changes the view of the water, the glacier front and the mountains.

Allow time to linger on the platforms, but do not plan the visit around ice collapses: they can occur without a schedule for travelers. Between November and March there is usually more daylight during the outing. Even in those months, bring a windbreaker and walk only on the authorized circuits.
