The usual air arrival is via Bariloche airport, followed by a road transfer to Villa La Angostura. From downtown Bariloche it is about 83 km via Ruta 40. There are buses between the two towns and a local terminal near the center; align your flight arrival with the scheduled departure of the ground transport.
How many days
Allow two or three days. Devote one day to the bay area and another to the Bosque de Arrayanes, choosing between a boat trip and a long hike. Río Correntoso and Lago Espejo can be included on the transfer along the Rota dos Sete Lagos.
When to go
Between December and March it is usually easier to spend long days on lake shores and on hikes. From June to September there can be snow and ice on the roads. In April and May the foliage often turns autumn colors; bring clothing for cold and rain.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Local buses serve the port and the Correntoso area; some services vary by season. A car or an organized tour helps to visit Lago Espejo and continue along the Sete Lagos route. Access to the Bosque de Arrayanes involves a boat, a hike, or a bicycle, depending on the chosen mode.
