About Centro Cívico
The Centro Cívico organizes Bariloche’s historic area around a paved square. The complex was inaugurated in 1940 and brings together wooden façades, arcades and the town hall’s clock tower. The side facing the lake helps to understand the relationship between the town and the Nahuel Huapi.
The visit can start with the exterior space, observing the volumes and the passages under the arches. The connection to rua Mitre leads to the central shopping area. There is a change in level between the square and the lake shore, so the walk involves descents and climbs even within the center.
You don’t need to fit the Centro Cívico into a distant excursion: it can be visited on arrival to town or during an urban walk. Wear comfortable shoes for the stone pavement and bring windproof clothing. If there is an event in the square, choose the route according to the space available.
