About Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse

On 20 November 1945, in Saal 600 of the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, the trial of the main Nazi leaders began before the International Military Tribunal, formed by the Allies. The Nuremberg trials, which continued until 1949, are considered the starting point of international criminal law.

The Memorium occupies the attic of the east wing of the building, directly above the hall. The permanent exhibition tells the context, proceedings and consequences of the trials in three parts: the main trial, the trials of Nazi crimes after 1946, and Nuremberg's legacy up to the International Criminal Court in Haia.

Saal 600 ceased to be used by the judiciary and has been incorporated into the visit. The hall can be seen when there are no events, and an installation shows how it looked at the time of the trial.

It is a place of remembrance with accounts of crimes against humanity: visit respectfully and avoid posed photos.
