About Stadthafen Rostock
The Stadthafen is Rostock's historic port on the Warnow river, north of the old town. For centuries it received the merchant ships of the Hanseatic city. As freight traffic moved to the seaport, the area became a waterfront promenade.
Along the quay are old brick warehouses, restaurants, bars and nautical shops. Tour boats, yachts and small passenger ships dock there, some offering trips to Warnemünde along the river.
Every year in August, Stadthafen and Warnemünde host the Hanse Sail, a gathering of large traditional sailing ships that draws big crowds. At that time the city's hotels fill up.
From the quay you can see the silhouette of the old town, with church towers rising behind the roofs.
