About Rheinturm

The Rheinturm is Düsseldorf's telecommunications tower and the city's tallest structure, at about 240 metres. It was built between 1979 and 1982, next to the state parliament and at the entrance to the MedienHafen.

Elevators take visitors to the viewing platform at 168 metres, with views over the MedienHafen, the Altstadt, the Hofgarten, the Königsallee and the Rhine bridges. In clear weather you can see the cathedral of Colônia. A little higher, at 172.5 metres, is a rotating restaurant that completes a full turn in 72 minutes.

On the façade facing the Altstadt there is a light sculpture that works as a clock: the illuminated bulbs, in groups, indicate hours, minutes and seconds. Many people stop on the promenade at night trying to read the time on the tower.
