The city

What to expect from Düsseldorf.

Düsseldorf is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the banks of the Rhine. The Altstadt, the old town, brings together squares, churches and Altbier breweries; the Rheinuferpromenade leads to the Rheinturm and the MedienHafen, with buildings by Frank Gehry. The Königsallee is the shopping boulevard with a canal in the middle. The K20, K21 and Kunstpalast museums cover art from the 20th century to today, and in the south of the city lies the baroque palace Schloss Benrath.
