About K21 Ständehaus
K21 is the contemporary art venue of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen. It operates in the Ständehaus, a neo-Renaissance building from 1880 built for the parliament of the former Prussian province of the Reno and which, from 1949 to 1988, served as the state parliament seat of Renânia do Norte-Vestfália.
In the conversion to a museum, the building received a large glass dome over the central courtyard. The galleries display installations, photography, video and painting by artists from various parts of the world, with exhibitions that change frequently.
The Ständehaus faces the Kaiserteich, a lake in a park south of the Altstadt. A walk around the water is peaceful and pairs well with the visit.
