About K20 Grabbeplatz

K20 is one of the two homes of the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, the state's art collection, established in 1961. It is located on Grabbeplatz square, on the edge of the Altstadt, in a building with a curved black granite façade opened in 1986 and expanded in 2010.

The collection focuses on 20th-century art. It began with the purchase of a large group of works by Paul Klee, which remains one of the highlights, and also includes Picasso, Matisse, surrealist artists and postwar American art.

Temporary exhibitions change throughout the year and some require a timed ticket. There is a combined ticket with the K21, valid on different days.
