About Rheinpark
The Rheinpark is the large park on the right bank of the Reno in Cologne, between the Deutz and Mülheim districts. It occupies land of former fortifications and was opened as a park in the early 20th century. Since 1989 it has been protected as a historic monument.
The park has riverfront lawns, gardens, trails and resting areas. From the path along the water you can see the silhouette of the old town, with the cathedral, the Groß St. Martin tower and the Hohenzollernbrücke.
At the southern tip is the Tanzbrunnen, an open-air stage used for concerts and summer festivals. For someone spending two days in Cologne, the park is a good spot for a picnic or to wait for sunset after crossing the bridge.
