About Bahnmuseum Albula
The Bahnmuseum Albula is located in Bergün/Bravuogn, on the Albula line, in a former arsenal built in 1917–1919 opposite the station. Opened in 2012, it tells the story of the Rhätische Bahn and the construction of the line in the Albula valley.
The Albula line, 61.7 km long, connects Thusis to St. Moritz and was opened in 1903 and 1904. It has 39 tunnels and 55 bridges. Between Bergün and Preda, spiral tunnels and viaducts make the train loop over itself to overcome the difference in height, and the Albula tunnel, 5,866 m long, passes under the mountain up to 1,820 m above sea level.
The museum displays historic vehicles, track parts, photos and a model of the Rhätische Bahn from the 1950s and 1960s, through which a virtual cab ride is offered. Outside stands a Krokodil locomotive, the Ge 6/6 I 407.
Beside the line, the Bahnerlebnisweg Albula trail runs from Preda to Filisur, passing the spirals. In winter, the Passo do Albula road, closed to cars, becomes a sled run between Preda and Bergün, with trains taking visitors back up.

How to get there
Bergün is on the Albula line, about 40 minutes by train from St. Moritz, in the direction of Chur. The museum is located in front of the station.
Tip
Get off at Bergün on the journey between Chur and St. Moritz, visit the museum and continue on the next train: regional trains run hourly. Check the museum opening times beforehand.
