About Rochers-de-Naye

The Rochers-de-Naye are the summit that dominates Montreux, at 2,042 m altitude. The train arrival station is at 1,968 m, on a terrace above the valley, with a panoramic restaurant set into the rock.

The rack railway departs from Montreux station and covers 10.36 km, climbing about 1,600 m in approximately 55 minutes. On the way it passes Glion and Caux, villages of old hotels with lake views.

From the top the view reaches the Léman, the Alps of Vaud, Valais and Bern, the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau, and the Mont-Blanc massif, as well as the Jura. Marmottes Paradis gathers enclosures with marmots from Europe, Asia and America. In winter the animals hibernate; in the European summer they are usually more visible, without guarantee.

The alpine garden La Rambertia, open in summer, has about 1,000 species of mountain plants from various parts of the world. In winter there are ski slopes in the summit area, and in November and December the Maison du Père Noël operates by reservation.
