About GoldenPass Express

The GoldenPass Express links Montreux on the Léman to Interlaken Ost in the Bernese Oberland without changing trains. The journey takes about 3 hours 15 minutes, and the train runs up to four services per day in each direction.

The route climbs from Montreux along the slopes above the lake and continues through the valleys of the Pays-d'Enhaut and the Saanenland, passing Montbovon, Château-d'Oex and Gstaad. In Zweisimmen, the carriages change gauge, from metre to standard, without passengers disembarking, and a BLS locomotive takes over for the run to Interlaken, skirting Lake Thun.

MOB operates the Montreux–Zweisimmen section, and BLS the section to Interlaken. The carriages have large windows and three classes: second, first and Prestige, with swivel seats and raised flooring to improve the view.

Between Montreux and Zweisimmen, MOB's panoramic trains cover the same stretch with more departures, and are suitable for those who want to do only the initial part, as far as Château-d'Oex or Gstaad.
