About Chocolate Train
The Chocolate Train is a day excursion organized by MOB, the GoldenPass railway, in partnership with Cailler, the Swiss chocolate brand. It departs in the morning from Montreux station in a Belle Époque carriage, with first and second class.
The train climbs the slopes above the lake and continues to Montbovon, already in the canton of Fribourg. From there, a double-decker bus takes the group to Gruyères.
In Gruyères the stop includes the Maison du Gruyère, where you learn how Gruyère AOP cheese is made, and free time in the medieval village. The castle of Gruyères is optional, with a separate admission fee.
The next stage is Broc, with a visit to the Maison Cailler, the brand's chocolate factory, where a tasting is part of the program. Return to Montreux is by bus in the late afternoon. Departures usually operate from May to September, only on certain days of the week.
