About Plateforme 10
Plateforme 10 occupies the site of the former SBB locomotive workshops, about 25,000 m² next to Lausanne station. The project preserved the facade of the main hall, tracks and the old locomotive turntable.
The first building to open was the MCBA, the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts, in October 2019. The long light-brick building, by the Barozzi Veiga office from Barcelona, houses Swiss and international painting and sculpture and hosts temporary exhibitions.
On the other side of the esplanade, a building by the Portuguese firm Aires Mateus houses two museums. Photo Elysée is dedicated to photography, and the mudac to contemporary design and applied arts. The complex was inaugurated in June 2022.
The esplanade between the buildings is open and features cafés, a bookstore and benches, and serves as a passage between the station and the district.
