Spring and autumn are usually pleasant. The festas de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, with pilgrimage and procession, typically run from late August to September 8, with the town full. Winter is cold.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Not in the center: the Santuário, the Sé and the castle are within walking distance, via the staircase. For Ucanha, Salzedas and the caves, a car or taxi is the simplest way.
