About Elétrico do Porto – Linha 1

Porto had an extensive tram network throughout the 20th century. Today only a few lines remain, operated by STCP with restored old wooden cars and woven straw seats.\n\nLine 1 is the most popular. It departs from Infante, near the Igreja de São Francisco, and follows the north bank of the Douro, passing under the Ponte da Arrábida, to Passeio Alegre at the Foz.\n\nAlong the way, in Massarelos, is the Museu do Carro Elétrico, installed in a former thermoelectric power station, with trams from several eras.\n\nOther historic lines link the centre, such as the 22, which runs between Carmo and Batalha, and the 18, between Massarelos and Carmo.
