Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Check before booking. From the capital, buses reach Grevenmacher in about 35 minutes. The nearest train station is Wasserbillig, 8 km away, on the line to Trier. By car it's about 25 km via the motorway. Public transport is free (you only pay for first class on the train); check ahead.

How many days

Half a day is enough for the Bernard-Massard cellars and the butterfly garden. A full day includes a boat trip on the Mosela or a visit to Trier across the border.

When to go

From April to October, when sightseeing boats typically operate, the cellars open for regular visits and the butterfly garden is in season. The wine and grape festival usually takes place in September. In winter several schedules are reduced; check ahead.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The center, the cellars and the quay are only a few minutes' walk from each other, and the butterfly garden about 15 minutes away. The bus links the town with the capital and with Remich. A car helps for following the Route du Vin.
