About Monte Solaro

Monte Solaro is 589 meters high and is the island's highest point. From the top you can see all of Capri, the Faraglioni from above, the golfo de Nápoles with the Vesúvio, the Sorrento peninsula and, on clear days, the Amalfi coast.

The best-known ascent is by seggiovia (open single-seat chairlift), which departs from the Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri. The trip lasts about 13 minutes and passes over gardens, vegetable plots and vineyards.

At the top there is a terrace with a café, the ruins of a Napoleonic-era fort and a statue of the emperor Augusto. Those who like to walk can descend via the trail that passes the hermitage of Santa Maria a Cetrella, a small church on the hillside.
