About Villa Olmo
Villa Olmo was built from the late 18th century for the Odescalchi marquises, to a design by Simone Cantoni, and was completed in 1812. It later passed to the Raimondi and the Visconti di Modrone families, and since 1925 it has belonged to the city of Como, which uses it for exhibitions and cultural events.
The park, facing the lake, has an Italian-style garden in front of the façade, with a fountain and tree-lined avenues, and an English-style section with old trees, small temples and an artificial pond. The view stretches to the opposite shore and the villas of Cernobbio.
The best way to get there is on foot along the waterfront. From the Tempio Voltiano, the Passeggiata Lino Gelpi runs right by the water, passing historic villas such as Villa Saporiti and Villa Gallia, up to the park entrance.
The park is open to the public and entry is free. The interior of the villa opens on specific occasions for exhibitions and events and may be closed: check before you go.
