Positano – Campânia Destination Costa Amalfitana about 57 km from Nápoles

How to get there

  • Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli (NAP) Napoli · 60 km
  • Sorrento (Circumvesuviana) Sorrento · 17 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Check before you buy. The most used airport is Nápoles (NAP). Positano has no train station. From Nápoles take the Circumvesuviana to Sorrento and the SITA bus to Positano. From Rome take a train to Salerno and a boat in season (generally April to October), or a bus via Amalfi.

How many days

In one day you can visit the church, the Spiaggia Grande and the alleyways. With two days you can add the Sentiero degli Dei or a boat trip along the coast.

When to go

May to September is beach season, with June and September usually quieter than July and August. Spring and autumn are good times for the trail. Many hotels and shops close between November and March.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The village is pedestrianized, parking spaces are rare and expensive, and the road gets congested in summer. SITA buses on the main road and a local bus that runs along the village's main street handle movements; boats depart from the beach.
