Amalfi – Campânia Destination Costa Amalfitana about 65 km from Nápoles

How to get there

  • Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli (NAP) Napoli · 70 km
  • Aeroporto Salerno Costa d'Amalfi (QSR) Pontecagnano Faiano · 45 km
  • Salerno Salerno · 25 km

Approximate road distances. Check flights and bus schedules before you travel.

Confirm before booking. The most used airport is Naples (NAP). From Rome, take the high-speed train to Salerno; from Naples, regional trains to Salerno. From Salerno, boats (in season, generally April to October) or SITA buses go to Amalfi. Salerno airport (QSR) has some flights within Europe; check ahead.

How many days

Two days allow you to see the cathedral, the Museo della Carta, Atrani and go up to Ravello. With three or four days, use Amalfi as a base for Positano, the Grotta dello Smeraldo and Paestum.

When to go

From April to October, during the boat season. May, June and September tend to be the best-balanced months. July and August are the hottest and busiest. The feast of Sant'Andrea, the patron saint, falls at the end of June and on November 30.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The town center is small and walkable; SITA buses depart from Piazza Flavio Gioia and boats from the adjacent harbour. Parking is difficult and expensive, and the SS163 sometimes enforces license-plate restrictions for non-residents during holidays and high season; check in advance.
