Confirm before buying. In season there are boats to the other villages and to Portovenere.
How many days
Half a day for the village, the castle and the Via dell'Amore. With a full day you can include Portovenere. Being close to La Spezia, it's a convenient base.
When to go
Spring and early autumn usually have good weather and fewer people. In summer, from June to August, the village receives many daytime visitors; at night it is quieter.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. The train stops next to the centre and links Riomaggiore to La Spezia in a few minutes. Car access to the centre is restricted and parking spaces for visitors are scarce.
