About Spiaggia di Fegina
Fegina is the newer part of Monterosso, separated from the old town by the morro dos Cappuccini and linked to it by a short tunnel and a seafront promenade. This is where the train station and the longest stretch of beach in the region are located, something rare on a coast made almost entirely of rocks.
The beach mixes coarse sand and pebbles. Much of it is occupied by stabilimenti balneari, the establishments that rent sunbeds and umbrellas, and there are free-access sections where you only need to bring a towel. The water is usually clear on calm days.
At the western end of the beach stands the statue of the Gigante, attached to the rock. On the other side, the promenade leads to the tunnel and the old town in a few minutes' walk.
Outside the summer season, the beach remains open for walking, but many businesses close. For those arriving by train, it is the first view of Monterosso: just go down the station stairs.
