About Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali
The Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali is dedicated to Pino Pascali, an artist born in Bari in 1935, from a family of Polignano origins, who died in 1968. Associated with arte povera, an Italian movement that used simple, everyday materials, he became known for sculptures and installations evoking animals, toy weapons and the sea.
The museum was established from a donation of the artist's works and objects by his family. The headquarters are in the former municipal slaughterhouse, on a cliff south of the center, with windows facing the Adriatic.
In addition to the permanent collection of Pascali's works, the foundation organizes temporary contemporary art exhibitions and the Prêmio Pino Pascali, created in 1969 by the artist's parents and awarded to figures in the international art world.
It's a short visit that shows another side of Polignano beyond the cliffs and the historic center.
