The city
Cashel is a small town in County Tipperary, at the foot of the Rock of Cashel, the limestone hill where the kings of Munster sat, crowned by a round tower, Cormac's Romanesque chapel and a roofless Gothic cathedral. In the fields just below are the ruins of Hore Abbey, a 13th-century Cistercian monastery.
